Come hang out w/ us this Saturday!
Hey folks! This Saturday we’ve got TWO awesome events. We’d love for you to join us!
If you’re more of an early bird or into activism or want your shot in front of the camera, come up to Harlem for Miles Megaciph‘s “War” video shoot directed by Rocka Bennett! You might recognize Miles from our video for Genesis Be’s “Cold Eyes” – now’s the time for his own video.
We’re shooting from 8am-3pm up at Employment Technology Center (304-318 West 117th Street, betw 8th and 9th Ave).
If you want to be featured, show up early. To take part in the Peace Rally, wear all black and show up before noon. Oh and did I mention FREE food?
Bring 2 friends and get a free pass to Miles Megaciph’s upcoming album (“Migration of the Souled Kind”) release party this spring!
Click here for the track and here for more info
If you’re more of a night owl and want to party, come get your drink on at the Teen Girl Scientist Monthly EP Release Party!
So later that night, come out to Brooklyn (13 Thames St, off the Morgan L stop) for TWO sets of music, live projections AND a screening of our video for RiverStomp directed by Max S Pham.
For $3 at the door you get a reduced EP price, sweet tunes and FREE beer all night! What’s not to love? More details and FB info here!
It’s like the flyers were MADE to match or something.
Video #17 – “Cold Eyes” by Genesis Be
If you didn’t make it out to the show last night, no worries, there’s plenty more to come from the talented Genesis Be.
2010 has been a crazy year for this Reynolds Scholarship for Social Entrepreneurship and NIA award winning artist from NYU’s Clive Davis School of Recorded Music. 2011 is sure to bring even more great music and collaboration from Genesis and the rest of the Open Sky Artworks crew. Stay tuned!
Here’s a video for “Cold Eyes” a hip hop song with some heavy personal history and biting rhymes. With the detail oriented camera work of John McMinn and edited by Kevin Chew, we wanted to highlight the song’s (and Genesis’s) journey. Check it.
Special thanks to Auzriel and Andrea Dao Wong.
Green, our new favorite color
Spent the afternoon/evening shooting what will surely be one of our weirdest videos yet. Lots of ghetto/glitchy green screen work for a song off of Teen Girl Scientist Monthly frontman, Matt roi Berger‘s Song Cycle project – 52 weeks in the year, 52 songs in the year. Sound familiar eh?
Anyway, as always, had a great time working with Matt and our boy Mike Raynes stepping back behind the camera. This time involved hanging in the West Village, building a makeshift green screen set in Matt’s basement, and leaving with lungs full of dust and chroma-key green aerosol fumes. Awesome.
Of course we have a permit to shoot here…
Ah yes, my favorite kind of shooting – illegal, guerrilla, never know what’s gonna happen. Spent the afternoon with Brother Han shooting his performances and damning the MAN. The crowd was really supportive – if any of you guys reading this were there, give us a shout! Also shot some beautiful rooftop footage – special thanks to Joshua Bridge for the rooftop location. Run and gun shooting by myself, ACTUAL camera work by Cory Stambler. Check out some shots of our adventure:
Thanks to Jonny B Goodman helping another musician out w/ an extra mic stand, Alan Kudan for some sound equipment and Spencer Shangkuan for the camera setup.
Shooting with Melissa Lusk
Happy Halloween folks!
Well, we’re hitting up every neighborhood and every borough with these shoots!
Spent the day out in Astoria shooting a siiick dance video that literally stopped traffic for Melissa Lusk. Fiiinally got to put my plans for a slow motion/fast motion video to use. Seriously guys, this one will be a TRIP.
Super minimal crew this time around (as everyone and there brother was in DC for the Rally). Directed by Max S. Pham and shot by Praveen Elankumaran. Thanks to our lovely dancers, Kyle McCoy, Emma Koenig, David Isaacs, Rachel Bloom and of course our dancer/bassist/moral support/punny uncle, Matt roi Berger. Props to Katie Lee Hill for choreographing the routine. Apologies to all subjected to my terrible voice due to lack of playback volume. Pictures after the jump!
