Day 30 – “Hey Hey” by The Graves

August 8, 2011 1 comment

And if you sing along with us, better give it all you’ve got!

And with this video, we come to the end of our 30 day journey. I hope you had as much fun watching these videos as we did making them. The amount of support and talent that has come out of this project is overwhelming.

At first we had some difficulty deciding what to do for this band that’s based way out West. Eventually I came up with this. This song is quite an anthem and I figured it would be a nice way to bring all of our artists together. Please enjoy “Hey Hey” by The Graves.

Once again, I’d like to thank all the artists and filmmakers who participated in this project.

Oh what a night!

What a fantastic night Tuesday! So many thanks to all of you who made it out to show your support. We seriously could not do this without each and every one of you. From day one, the goal has been to find artists who would never otherwise share a stage or a label or a fanbase and bring them all together in one space. To give our filmmakers and musicians the freedom to take risks and visualize music as they feel it. To let people discover music and their own personal connections to these songs.

Katra Lounge was PULSING with talent Tuesday night! To see some artists finally meet their editors and animators for the first time, to hear that some artists have videos lined up with their Project 30 in 30 directors in the future, to have this all come together under one roof is exactly why we began the project in the first place. I could not be more pleased and excited for what’s to come!

Stay tuned for the upcoming web premiere of videos for Miles Megaciph, Auzriel and The Graves.

In the mean time, enjoy the photos from this amazing night:

Hey folks! This Saturday we’ve got TWO awesome events. We’d love for you to join us!

If you’re more of an early bird or into activism or want your shot in front of the camera, come up to Harlem for Miles Megaciph‘s “War” video shoot directed by Rocka Bennett! You might recognize Miles from our video for Genesis Be’s “Cold Eyes” – now’s the time for his own video.

We’re shooting from 8am-3pm up at Employment Technology Center (304-318 West 117th Street, betw 8th and 9th Ave).

If you want to be featured, show up early. To take part in the Peace Rally, wear all black and show up before noon. Oh and did I mention FREE food?

Bring 2 friends and get a free pass to Miles Megaciph’s upcoming album (“Migration of the Souled Kind”) release party this spring!

Click here for the track and here for more info

If you’re more of a night owl and want to party, come get your drink on at the Teen Girl Scientist Monthly EP Release Party!

So later that night, come out to Brooklyn (13 Thames St, off the Morgan L stop) for TWO sets of music, live projections AND a screening of our video for RiverStomp directed by Max S Pham.

For $3 at the door you get a reduced EP price, sweet tunes and FREE beer all night! What’s not to love? More details and FB info here!

It’s like the flyers were MADE to match or something.

Video #17 – “Cold Eyes” by Genesis Be

December 8, 2010 2 comments

If you didn’t make it out to the show last night, no worries, there’s plenty more to come from the talented Genesis Be.

2010 has been a crazy year for this Reynolds Scholarship for Social Entrepreneurship and NIA award winning artist from NYU’s Clive Davis School of Recorded Music. 2011 is sure to bring even more great music and collaboration from Genesis and the rest of the Open Sky Artworks crew. Stay tuned!

Here’s a video for “Cold Eyes” a hip hop song with some heavy personal history and biting rhymes. With the detail oriented camera work of John McMinn and edited by Kevin Chew, we wanted to highlight the song’s (and Genesis’s) journey. Check it.

Special thanks to Auzriel and Andrea Dao Wong.

December is for the music!
