Day 30 – “Hey Hey” by The Graves

August 8, 2011 1 comment

And if you sing along with us, better give it all you’ve got!

And with this video, we come to the end of our 30 day journey. I hope you had as much fun watching these videos as we did making them. The amount of support and talent that has come out of this project is overwhelming.

At first we had some difficulty deciding what to do for this band that’s based way out West. Eventually I came up with this. This song is quite an anthem and I figured it would be a nice way to bring all of our artists together. Please enjoy “Hey Hey” by The Graves.

Once again, I’d like to thank all the artists and filmmakers who participated in this project.

Here we are with number four, “City Lights” by the boys from Kentucky, What Katie Said Last Night. Ran all around NYC one night shooting this one w/ frontman John. Special thanks to Bobby and Russell back in KY who sent along their own additions to the video. Directed by Pam Karp, shot by Joe Del Balzo, edited by Ellen Martinez. Thanks to Josh Bridge for last minute help w/ a location. This is as pop as rock gets. Check it:

Shooting some City Lights with John Phillips of WKSLN

“Like everybody’s still awake, Even though it’s 3am” – ok maybe not everyone, but I certainly am.

Let’s hear it for Pam Karp’s directorial debut! Surprisingly smooth shoot (despite some train trouble and other location foibles). Good times running around Astor Place, the BK Promenade and Billyburg Bridge w/ Pam, cinematographer Joe Del Balzo and singer/guitarist John Phillips of the pop-rock group, What Katie Said Last Night. Special thanks to Josh Bridge for the last minute use of his roof! Photos after the jump.

Welcoming What Katie Said Last Night! While the majority of the members are still in Kentucky where the group formed, the band’s front man, John Phillips is getting a feel for NYC as a student at NYU’s Clive Davis School of Recorded Music. We’re getting a chance to use the physical distance between the members to our advantage with a unique video incorporating footage shot by the band themselves in KY and a NYC shoot w/ John tonight. Stay tuned for more!

“What Katie Said Last Night is firm post pop. Not so stuck up as Oasis, more fun than Muse, look forward to hearing them on the next incarnation of 90210.” – Pam Karp, director of the “City Lights” video

Day 3 – Animation x 1000

Despite some health issues and scares on the part of some of our filmmakers, we are still plugging along! A relatively productive day with animator, Robinson Deckert working out the kinks of animation based videos for The Slackers, Shanghai Restoration Project and the boys of Purple Bird Music, Dead Geoff and Chi’ Akai.

In live action world, getting ready for shoots this coming week/weekend with What Katie Said Last Night, more with Jonny B. Goodman and a couple special guests TBD 😉 that have a lot of Attitude. Not to mention JGood’s first video is getting the post treatment right now! More to come!
