Finally, here is Project 30 in 30 as it was first intended. Tonight begins 30 days of music and 30 days of great videos.

Exactly 9 months after our first video, Don’t Ask Now by Jonny B. Goodman and the Area Men, aired, our baby is born – all limbs and toes intact. We are proud to present The 30 once again! What better way to spend a lazy summer evening than with new music? Check back each night at 9pm to see a new video or save it for the morning – I know you’re youtubing at the office anyway.

The best part? You won’t know which video to expect next. I actually had a lot of fun playing DJ and putting together the setlist for this run. But to start us off, let’s go back to the beginning.

Once again, with beautifully gritty animation and an ambling tune here’s “Don’t Ask Now” by Jonny B. Goodman and the Area Men.

Video #13 – “No More, No Less” by Jonny B Goodman and the Area Men

Spent an afternoon with my friend, Jonny Goodman in his old hood (Sunset Park) taking photos and eating cheesy bread. The song touches on the transformation of the neighborhood so we thought we’d do a little deconstruction/construction collage to stay with the theme. I’ve always been a fan of Brooklyn and it’s always so bizarre to me that you walk a couple blocks in any direction and the whole vibe (demographic, safety, food, buildings, people) can change. So here’s a video from about 30 blocks south of me, “No More, No Less” by Jonny B Goodman and the Area Men:

Welcome to our good friend, Jonny B Goodman as he and his band (The Area Men) join our lineup! You can check him out on myspace to hear some of his band’s stuff.

I’ve been lucky to work with the guy before (he wrote the music for my last film) and I’m super excited to create a couple videos for some of the new songs JGood and his crew have been writing. Jonny is an amazing lyricist and guitarist and an all around cool guy. I first met him on the way to a Three Floors of Ska show (back when the old Knitting Factory still existed downtown) and we’ve been friends ever since.

The DC/NYC based band writes socially aware songs with a style that is not quite folk, not quite blues, but both with a lot a bit of rock and roll. Their sound is both nostalgic yet inventive at the same time. With Jonny on guitar and vocals, we’ve also got Joe Del Balzo (lead guitar), BJ Cantlupe (bass guitar/upright bass/bkg vox),Dan Papson (organ/piano) , and Greg Harris (drums) rounding out the rest of the Area Men.

More updates on the video plan to come!
